Company Integrates Apple iPad into Wander-Prevention System
Stanley Healthcare Solutions, a business of Stanley Black & Decker Inc., announced that the Apple® iPadTM mobile digital device can be integrated into the RoamAlert® wander prevention system to provide a mobile user interface for the RoamAlert system.
This integration enables users to monitor activity and respond to events in the RoamAlert system from anywhere within the facility. Users see the RoamAlert software exactly as it would appear on any other client computer, and can perform any day-to-day task, such as responding to alarms. The company notes this visual information is a major step up from the limited text information available via a typical portable device, such as a pager.
Facilities have great flexibility in deploying this solution. They can piggyback on an existing Wi-Fi network, and the iPad can be wall mounted as a high-quality fixed display, or carried by staff members as they go about their duties.
"The RoamAlert system has always provided a wide range of integration options that enable healthcare facilities to reduce complexity and improve efficiency," said Gene Borys, director of Long Term Care for Stanley Healthcare. "Integration with the Apple iPad is another big step towards giving users the information they need to do their jobs and provide better care, no matter where they are."
The RoamAlert system is an advanced radio frequency system for individual safety, helping health care facilities of all kinds protect against wandering, personal duress, asset loss, and more. It is part of Stanley Healthcare Solutions' suite of safety and security products for the health care industry.
